Post-Covid Pathways to a Better World

January 15, 2024

Covid-19 brought the world to a complete standstill. As it spread with unprecedented speed across the world, it showed us how precariously we are perched at the intersection of globalization, environmental degradation, and disaster. It unmasked the unsustainable nature of the current, “business as usual” way of being in the world, and its non-responsive ways of dealing with issues like climate change, income inequality and structural racism.

In this experiential exploration, we’ll examine what we learned from the “Great Pause” of the global pandemic. We’ll then explore the critical question of what we might do with what we’ve learned. After showing an excerpt from the docu-series “The Great Pause,” we’ll use the framework of what visionary activist Joanna Macy calls “the three pillars of activism” to explore how each of us might participate in the re-creation of a sustainable world that works for all of us that provides for everyone’s basic needs on this planet, and is actually within our reach.
